Prevent Hard Drive Meltdown

Data loss from hard drive failures cost more than a simple hard drive replacement. You lose valuable time and productivity.  You also lose valuable data if you haven't performed a recent backup, and that data often cannot be reconstructed.  Computers have a tendancy to overheat when they are most productive, and heat is deadly for a mechanical device like your hard drive.

The Critter with a short tail is included. It will allow the sensor to determine the environmental temperature directly behind your computer to detect excess heat. The sensor is located behind your computer rather than inside so you do not need to open up your computer to install the sensor. Included is software to run on your desktop computer running Microsoft(R) Windows(R) which communicate with the sensor. When the environment gets above 85F, a high temperature alert is raised on your computer screen. At 95F, a critical temperature alert is raised.

Solution

When the temperature gets too high, the software will alert you to take action: turn off or move the space heater you have under your desk, remove the boxes and papers stacked around your computer, adjust your room temperature to provide a better climate for your computer. The internet-enabled Critter device provides software for you to be able to check on your computer's environment remotely. There are many solutions that automatically shut off your computer when the temperature is too high. We think it is better to let you know so that you can fix the problem. The last thing you want is for your computer to automatically shut down in the middle of important work.
